​​​​Sweetheart Pageant: This is a practice pageant opportunity to obtain feedback from a professional panel of judges. The events include interview, runway (fun fashion), and evening gown. The judge's comments will be emailed following this event.

Registration Fees: The Sweetheart Pageant registration fee for all required events is $199. Registration closes November 3, 2024. All fees are non-refundable.

A. Sweetheart Casual Wear: This is an opportunity to showcase your everyday style in your favorite casual wear outfit! Work the stage and show off your modeling skills! Make the Casual Wear walking routine fun and upbeat!  Make your routine what you want it to be. One winner in each age division. 

​​

B. Sweetheart Fitness: Who is ready to rock the runway in the fitness competition? Please wear a fun and colorful fitness outfit of choice with tennis shoes. Make this walking routine fun and upbeat! One winner in each age division. 

​

C. Sweetheart Most Photogenic: The photogenic competition can win you the Most Photogenic event. Your most photogenic photo must be a headshot and will be a digital submission. The judges will be looking for personality, fashion sense, confidence, beauty, lighting, creativity, and composition. One winner in each age division. The digital headshot will need to be emailed by November 15, 2024.

D. Sweetheart Portfolio: Are you ready to show us your modeling portfolio? The judges will evaluate the overall quality and variety of photos in the portfolio to determine the winner in each age division. The portfolio is a printed submission that will be submitted at registration. Please make sure the photos are in a portfolio binder.

E. Sweetheart Spokesmodel: Present your speech live on the stage presenting yourself and your platform. 60 second max. The speech needs to be about who you are, platform, service initiatives, and what you have accomplished. One overall Junior and Senior Division winner.

F. Sweetheart Talent: Got talent? Who is ready to show the judges your talent? This is a 90 second time limit and is a video submission. Email the video entry to missnorthernstatespageant@gmail.com by November 15, 2024. One overall Junior and Senior Division winner.

​​​​Hair and Makeup Rules

Contestants are encouraged to show their natural beauty. It is at your discretion how you choose to style your hair and makeup. It is encouraged for the Junior Division Contestants to not use heavy makeup. Light makeup and hair extensions in the younger divisions are allowed.

Dressing Room

Each contestant may have one female chaperone in the dressing room. There are absolutely no males allowed in the dressing room.  No photos or videos are allowed in the dressing room.

Event Admission

Admission for the Sweetheart Pageant event can be purchased at the door the day of the event for $25 each. Children age 6 and under are free admission. If you are visiting royalty from any system and are wearing your sash the admission is only $10.

​

​Kindness Standards 

Miss Northern States is a sisterhood that supports each other. Contestants and their families are held to a high standard of morals and ethics.  It is expected that all contestants, parents, and guests conduct themselves with kindness first. Disrespectful behavior, negative comments, or bullying will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal or removal from the pageant venue. If you have a situation, please inform the Director, Stacey Mulinex or a team member. MNS wants to see every girl and woman empower and support each other! Let's cheer each other on and be there for each other when a friend is needed.

Judges and Scoring Process

The professional panel of judges change annually for pageant events. Each judge scores separately and the tabulation software is processed by a Judges Chairman to determine the division winners. In the event, a judge would ever know a contestant personally, they will waive their right for judging and an average of the other judges will stand for scoring. The Director ensures this process has high ethical standards to ensure there is a consistent, fair, and equitable judging process.
